With just 12 days left in his retirement, Sinha was removed from the 2G case probe by the Supreme Court on Thursday saying that the allegations against him of protecting some accused appears to be "prima facie credible".
The government has said that the issues highlighted by the Supreme Court are serious in nature. The apex court had directed the second senior most CBI officer to oversee the probe.
The Supreme Court on Thursday said that allegations against him of protecting some accused appears to be "prima facie credible".
A bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu, however, refused to pass an elaborate order on the issue saying that it would "tarnish" the "image and reputation" of the premier agency.
Meanwhile, Sinha has denied the charges. "I will abide by the court's order. The court has made some observations. The investigations are at an advanced stage. I have no role and I'm not embarrassed," Sinha said.
He also added that he would not be filing any review petition as the order was from the Bench headed by the Chief Justice.
